Rokken Like Dokken Vol III
Lords of Acid
See the entry for track #5 from RLD Vol. II.
Judas Priest
"Breakin' the Law"
Rob Halford inspired me to buy my first pair of leather
chaps, chainmail crop top and low-slung bullet belt. In retrospect, I feel
a bit silly.
Nada Surf
"Popular"
Here's another one for the 90s one hit wonder comp. It's
kinda strange, because this is another tune that would fit in fine on radio
today. I guess these guys were just ahead of their time.
Grandmaster Flash, Melle Mel and the Furious Five
"White Lines"
While "The Message" probably is more famous, this is
far and away superior. I heard that Duran Duran did a cover of this song
on their album, "Thank You" (as well as "911 is a Joke!"). I need to hear
those!
Ben Folds
"Rockin' the Suburbs"
What the hell happened to his "five." I never really
got into BF5, because it's what all of the frat guys I worked with dug
on. Plus, that song "Brick" was a real downer. I did see that guy kickin'
it on the piano on a show one time and was blown away. This song, however,
had me pissing my pants. I mean, "Sha' mon!" Classic!
Europe
"The Final Countdown"
Every. Compilation. Should. End. With. This. Song. Period.
