Yacht Rock, Volume #1

Michael McDonald
"Sweet Freedom"
This one is sort of the unofficial theme to "Yacht Rock." While this music was never really my cup o' tea back in the day, this is the one song out of this group that I knew. I didn't know the name... or the artist, but I did know that it was the theme to the Billy Crystal/Gregory Hines vehicle, "Running Scared." I don't know jack else about that movie, but I sure remember 'em hammin' it up to this tune.

Kenny Loggins
"Whenever I Call You 'Friend'"
"Your shitty music makes me barf, Loggins."

Doobie Brothers
"What a Fool Believes"
"I love being in the Doobies. They're so smooth."

Kenny Loggins
"This is It"
"A red sky last night is a sailor's delight."

Hall & Oates
"Portable Radio"
"Get your dick outta yer' heart."

Kenny Loggins
"Keep the Fire"
"If we don't go all out smooth with this song, then Hall and Oates have already won."

Christopher Cross
"Sailing"
"Don't Stop. It's so beautiful... it's so smooth."

Steely Dan
"Time Out of Mind"
"Shut it, Steely Dan! I'm Alright. Don't worry 'bout me."

Journey
"Any Way You Want It"
"Once you get that fever, you've gotta rock!"

Kenny Loggins
"I'm Alright"
"Dear God, I hope it's smooth!"

About the Artwork:
Quick and dirty? Sure, but the life preserver makes all the difference.
